Deion Sanders appears to close door on NFL coaching prospects

· Yahoo Sports

Deion Sanders' future plans always seem to come up in conversation given the public stature of the Pro Football Hall of Famer. While there were rumblings of him leaving Colorado after his sons made it to the NFL, Sanders threw cold water on a return to the NFL for himself.

There was chatter about Sanders being a legitimate candidate for the Dallas Cowboys head coaching job when it opened up, but Sanders made it clear he wouldn't be a candidate for any NFL job.

"They weren't real at all," Sanders told Front Office Sports, regarding the rumors that he was interested in leading the Cowboys. “I liked playing the pro game, but I wouldn’t enjoy coaching the pro game. It’s a different game.”

Sanders has coached at Colorado for three seasons, compiling a record of 16-21. He doubled down on his desire to do the best job he can for the Buffaloes.

“I’m focused on winning and getting these kids through college so they have degrees, and they’re able to attain tremendous professions even after football is over,” Sanders said to Front Office Sports.

Sanders spent five seasons as a player with the Cowboys and was an All-Pro in three of those campaigns.
