On one of the Houston Texans' defensive line, opponents must prepare for five-time Pro Bowl defensive end Danielle Hunter coming full speed upfield and into the face of a quarterback looking for shelter.

Most teams would simply double up Hunter, thus limiting the pass-rushing success from Houston's best edge defender. The only problem? The Texans still feature All-Pro Will Anderson Jr. on the other side, ready to wreak havoc on every snap.

Entering 2026, the Texans' duo pass-rushing unit might be the league's most intimidating defensive tandem to date. Over the past two seasons, Hunter and Anderson have combined for 40 sacks, 59 tackles for loss and 83 quarterback hits while serving as the anchor to the Texans' path to the postseason under DeMeco Ryans.

Given that offense reigns supreme in the league standings, CBS Sports didn't name Hunter and Anderson the top duo for the 2026 season. That title belongs to either the pair of pass-catchers for the Los Angeles Rams or the pair of weapons down in Arlington for the Dallas Cowboys.

Still, Anderson and Hunter were given a spot on the list, notably the only defensive pair honored in the AFC.

"Very rarely will a team roster two of the top five players in the league at one position," CBS Sports' Carter Bahns wrote. "One can easily argue that there are five more talented edge rushers than Will Anderson Jr. and Danielle Hunter, but from a pure production standpoint, they both stood in the most elite tier among last season's pocket disruptors.

"The Houston Texans were a top-two defense in the NFL last year by scoring and yardage, and opposing quarterbacks logged an average passer rating of 76.1 against them, good for the second-lowest mark against any team. Anderson and Hunter were the engines of that machine. They play wonderfully off each other and could be even more dangerous in 2026, as an improved run-stopping unit should help force even more obvious passing situations."

The Texans were the only team to feature two players ranked inside the top five of Pro Football Focus' pass-rush win grade last season, joining names like Lions' star Aiden Hutchinson and newly acquired Rams' All-Pro Myles Garrett. While neither player took the top spot, the combined score of 91.4 would be six points higher than the next duo of last season.
