FSU's top-rated commit shuts down his recruitment

· Yahoo Sports

The Florida State Seminoles have gotten seven commitments in the 2027 cycle this month. More importantly, players are shutting down their recruitments.

Visit saltysenoritaaz.com for more information.

On Sunday, three-star safety Jemari Foreman let it be known that he was sticking with the Seminoles after a strong push from the Louisville Cardinals. On Monday night, four-star linebacker Jernard Albright took to his Instagram page to announce that his recruitment was shut down as well.

There was no indication that any other school had a chance to flip Albright. However, this is a big-time development as he is currently the top-ranked prospect in the 2027 class for FSU. Three-star linebacker CJ Ohuabunwa also pledged to Florida State on Monday, which means linebackers coach Ernie Sims is on quite a roll. They also have three-star Olrick Johnson III committed at the position.

Albright is ranked as the No. 142 overall player and No. 14 safety in the 247Sports composite. He is also the No. 17 player from Georgia.

FSU could add four-star defensive lineman Sam LeJeune and three-star running back Marquis Fennell later this week. If so, their recruiting class will take a pretty good leap in the rankings.

Four-star Ben'Jarvius Shumaker flips from Ole Miss football to Deion Sanders, Colorado

· Yahoo Sports

One day after saying his recruitment was closed, Choctaw County four-star recruit Ben'Jarvius Shumaker has flipped his college commitment.

Shumaker announced on June 23 that he has committed to Colorado football and Deion Sanders, after a post on X. The defensive lineman was originally committed to Ole Miss since March 6.

Visit palladian.co.za for more information.

The four-star is ranked No. 70 nationally and is the No. 7 defensive lineman, according to 247Sports Composite. He is also the No. 2 overall player in Mississippi in the 2027 class.

On June 22, Schumaker had a social media post with an Ole Miss graphic that said "Sip Made, Sip Stayed. Recruitment Shutdown." That post has since been deleted from his social media accounts.

Schumaker was the highest-ranked recruit in Ole Miss' class. After his departure, four-star quarterback Keegan Croucher (No. 150 composite nationally and No. 5 player in Tennessee) is the highest-ranked class of 2027 player for the Rebels.

The 6-foot-3, 270-pound rising senior had an official visit to Colorado on June 19. Some of Shumaker's offers included Mississippi State, Auburn, Alabama, Texas A&M and Miami, among others.

During the 2025 season, Shumaker produced 113 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks and recovered two fumbles, helping Choctaw County to a 7-5 record. In his sophomore season, the Mustangs won the MHSAA 3A title over Noxubee County.

Shumaker is the second commit from the state following Brookhaven offensive lineman Coderro McDaniel. Colorado also flipped McDaniel from Ole Miss after he was committed to the Rebels.
